Description

This classic chocolate chip cookie recipe makes deliciously buttery cookies with crisp edges, chewy middles, and gooey chocolate chips in every bite.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. 1

Gather your ingredients, making sure your butter is softened, and your eggs are room temperature.

  2. 2

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Beat butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth.

  3. 3

Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla.

  4. 4

Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt.

  5. 5

Stir in flour and chocolate chips.

  6. 6

Drop spoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.

  7. 7

Bake in the preheated oven until edges are nicely browned, about 10 minutes.

  8. 8

Cool on the baking sheets briefly before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. 9

Store in an airtight container or serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Let cookie batter cool in refrigerator for 24 hours is supposed to reduce sweetness.

Try dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar for less sweet.

Use melted butter instead of soft butter.

Bake at higher temp and shorter time for softer cookie. Low heat and longer time makes cookies crunchy.
